These are internet security programs which will give you the best freeware protection possible. These programs can be used on Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, or 7.
These programs will properly protect your computer from internet threats.
The freeware programs listed here:
* Do not conflict with each other
* will NOT screw up your computer
* will be more effective than many retail programs
I've been testing freeware and retail internet security programs since June 2001 and have extensive experience with virus and other malware removal and prevention.
There are numerous freeware and retail programs which are worthless, some even install malware.
Clicking the "Free Internet Security Guide and Freeware Security Downloads" bar brings you back to this Home page.
You'll also find some threat specific removal tools and prevention tips, including Virtumonde prevention and removal. Virtumonde is difficult, (and sometimes impossible) to remove.
There is also a basic Computer Tuneup Guide to help you keep your system in top running condition.

You can NOT run more than one (1) Anti-Virus program on your computer at any one (1) time!!!
Running more than one (1) Anti-Virus program will cause them to conflict!
The results of running more than one anti-virus program will be:
* ineffective anti-virus protection
* it will slow down your computer system (your computer may become UN-USABLE and need Windows reinstalled)
You CAN run more than one (1) Anti-Spyware program.
Running more than 1 Anti-Spyware program is OK -
Running more than 1 Anti-Virus program is NOT OK and will screw up your computer!
I still run into people who try to run more than 1 anti-virus, sometimes I can fix their system, sometimes I have to reinstall Windows.
The most basic internet security practice when downloading files of any type is:
Anti-virus scan EVERYTHING you download BEFORE you open it.
In addition to protecting your computer with updated anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, you MUST also keep your operating system (Windows) updated with all critical updates.
Also, be sure to update your Java, Flash Player, Acrobat Reader, browser (Firefox preferably), and MS Office if installed.
The operating system and those programs absolutely need to be kept up to date, updates are almost always fixes for newly discovered security vulnerabilities.
